2010 RULES
That
this Club is called The Pudsey Bowling and Table Tennis Club.
Membership
There
shall be 5 classes of membership :-
Bowling Member
Table Tennis Member
Social Member
Honorary/Life Member.
Junior Member (12 to 18)
The
membership subscription for each class (along with any discounts)
will be discussed at the October committee meeting each year, the
proposed new rates will be presented to the members at an EGM before
the end of October. The members will vote on accepting the rates and
discounts proposed by the committee; if the proposal is defeated,
the rates and discounts will remain as they were, unless a proposal
has been received prior to the meeting proposing new rates and
discounts, and this proposal is approved.
The
membership subscription for each class as agreed yearly at this
E.G.M. and any discounts, shall be permanently displayed in the Club
House.
Management
Committee
The
Club shall elect a Committee consisting of the President, Secretary
and Treasurer, together with 9 other members. The officers shall be
ex-officio members of the committee with voting rights. Four members
should be shareholders of Pudsey Ltd. A quorum shall be formed by
five members, 3 of whom may be ex-officio members.
Period
of Office
The
President shall be elected for a two year period, a President elect
shall be elected by the committee after the first year of the
Presidents term of office. The Secretary and Treasurer shall be
elected to serve for one year and be eligible for re-election. The
nine committee members may serve for three years. Three committee
members shall retire annually, but shall be eligible for
re-election.
Annual
General Meeting
The
A.G.M. shall be held in the last week
of the month of March of each year. A notice to this effect
shall be displayed on the notice board by the Secretary at least one
month prior to the date of the meeting. The notice should also
include facilities for nominations by members for the positions of
Secretary, Treasurer and Committee Members. All nominees must have
been members for one year and must be proposed and seconded
by fully paid up members. This notice shall remain on the notice
board until two days prior to the date of
the A.G.M. Any member or committee wishing to submit a
resolution for the agenda shall do so in writing to the Secretary
one month prior to the date of the A.G.M. Voting for the officers
and committee shall be by ballot.
Vacancies
on Committee.
The
Committee shall have the power to fill vacancies caused by
resignation or any other reasons of any officer or committee
member during his term of office. The newly elected member shall
only serve until the next A.G.M.
Honorariums
The
Secretary and Treasurer shall receive an annual honorarium, the
amount to be decided at the A.G.M. and paid on this date.

Committee
Meetings
The
Committee shall meet monthly, the date and time shall be agreed by
the Committee members at its first meeting. The Officers shall have
the power to call extra meetings in cases of urgency. The Secretary
shall be responsible for informing all members of the Committee of
the date and time of such meetings.
Special
General Meetings
The
Secretary shall summon special general meetings as follows:
1.
In the event of the whole of the Committee resigning at any
time, the Secretary shall obtain nominations during the following
three days and a ballot shall be held within seven days of such
resignation for the election of a new Committee.
2.
Any of the Officers, Committee, or any member or members
thereof, may be removed by a majority of three-fourths of the
members of the Club present at a Special General Meeting called for
that purpose.
3.
At the direction of the Committee.
4.
Upon request forwarded to the Secretary signed by not less
than twelve of the members stating the objects of such meeting. Such
meeting shall be held
within
not less than fourteen days from the date of the receipt of the
request by the Secretary.
Notice
of any Special General Meeting and of the object for which it is
called shall be posted by the Secretary at least fourteen days
before the date appointed for such meeting (except in the case of a
Special General Meeting called under sections one and two), and no
other business except that for which the meeting has been called
shall be brought before a Special General Meeting.
New
Members
A
nomination for membership shall be proposed by one member and
seconded by another member, both must be fully paid up members who
have held a membership not less than one year. The proposer or
seconder of a new member must introduce the person to the Officers
of the Club before the date of the meeting when the application
would be considered. The Secretary shall inform the applicant in
writing of the result of the Committee decision, and if the
application is successful, shall provide him with a copy of the Club
Rules and inform him as to the amount of membership due. New members
joining after June 30th in any year shall pay a first
subscription of half the normal rate.
Any member changing his address shall give notice to the
Secretary in writing of such address and until such notice is given
all communications and notices sent to his last address shall be
deemed to have been served upon such member.
Non
Payment of Subscriptions
Subscriptions
are due on January 1st, any member who has not paid their
subscription by April 1st shall be notified by the
Secretary and if the subscription is not paid by May 1st,
they shall cease to be a member.
If,
however, the delay in payment can be accounted for to the
satisfaction of the Committee, the name of the member may be
restored to the list at the discretion of the Committee.
Misconduct
of Members
No
illegal gambling, drunkenness, bad language or disorderly conduct
shall be permitted on the Club premises. Any infringement of this
regulation will render the member offending liable to expulsion from
the Club. It shall be the duty of any Officer or member of the Club
to take every available means for putting a stop to the offences in
question and to report them forthwith to the Committee. The conduct
of a servant shall in no instance be made a matter of personal
reprimand by any member. All complaints against servants or the
domestic arrangements of the Club shall be addressed in writing to
the Committee.
Legal
No
new Member shall be admitted to the privileges of membership without
an interval of at least two days between their becoming members and
their admission. There may be admitted to the club on the day of
their match with the club, a) Players, b) officials of visiting
teams who are non members. Such team members and officials only, may
be permitted to buy intoxicants for consumption by them and their
guests on the Club premises.
The
sale or supply of intoxicating liquor in the Club premises shall
take place during hours permitted by the Licensing Authority.
Subject
to any conditions laid down by the Licensing Authority and approved
by the Committee, not being members of the Club, the following
persons may be admitted to the premises of the Club:
a)
Guests may be admitted to the Club House and premises and make use
of Club facilities with the exception of the purchase of
intoxicating liquor provided that they have signed the Visitors Book
kept by the Club for that purpose.
b)
Members of visiting sports or social clubs for games nights
and bowling competitions, including Regional or District
competitions to which individual players are invited.
c)
Persons attending any official social functions held by the
Club at the invitation of the Club Committee or members of the Club.
d)
Official social functions limited to a maximum of 8 per year.
e)
No sale of intoxicating liquor shall be made to persons under
the age of 18 years or for consumption by persons under the age of
18 years.
Any
member shall be at liberty to introduce a visitor to the Club House,
subject to such regulations as the Committee may from time to time
deem necessary. The charges incurred by the entertainment of such
visitors shall always be defrayed by the member introducing him. A
member introducing any visitor shall on every occasion enter the
name and place of residence of such visitor in the visitors book and
sign such book as the member so introducing him.
No
member shall be allowed to bring more than two visitors into the
Club House at any one time, nor can any visitor be admitted more
than six times during any one year and such visitors shall not stay
in the Club House after the members by whom they were introduced had
departed therefrom.
All
surplus monies to be used to maintain or improve club facilities. In
the event of the club being wound up, any monies left to be shared
between all paid up members.
Visitors
Bowling
members may invite two guests to use the green during a season
providing they are not members of a local league in which our own
club is involved, also that no club members are waiting to use the
green. Any guest is only allowed to use the Green twice in a year.
The Bowling Green
shall be open at such hours as the Committee
may from time to time decide. The permitted hours for supply of
Intoxicants shall be:
Monday
to FrIday: 11.00 to 23.00
Saturday:
11.00 to 24.00
Sundays:
12.00 to 22.30
Christmas
Day and Good Friday:
12.00
to 14.00
19.00 to 22.30
Any
other matters not included in these Rules shall be referred to the
Committee, whose decision thereon shall be binding upon all members
of the Club until altered at an Annual or General Meeting.
The
Secretary shall keep a faithful record of the business of the Club
in the Minute Book and shall call all Committee and Special
Meetings, notifying the time and place thereof to every member whose
duty it may be to attend such meetings.
The
Treasurer shall keep regular accounts and he and the Secretary shall
submit such accounts to the Committee whenever required. He shall
also at the close of each year, prepare a balance sheet showing the
correct state of the finances of the Club and such balance sheet be
audited at least seven days before the General Meeting. The accounts
of the Club shall be audited annually and submitted to the Annual
General Meeting in March. These Rules must be printed and placed in
a conspicuous part of the Club Room.
These
Rules shall not be altered without the sanction of General or
Special General Meeting.
Bowling
Committee
The
Bowling Committee shall comprise of the Team Captains plus the
members appointed at the Annual General Bowlers Meeting. It shall be
responsible for all bowling matters, including the clubs private
competitions. Its funds shall be raised by extra payments from team
players and other fund raising schemes
if required.

Table
Tennis Committee
The
Table Tennis Committee shall be elected annually in accordance with
the rules of their association. It shall be responsible for all
table tennis matters, including the clubs private competitions and
membership of the sports governing bodies. Its funds shall be raised
by extra payments from table tennis members and other fund raising
schemes as required.
